Finally some snow!!!

Finally the snow arrived at the weekend
After a gap last winter when I didn't manage to see any snow on the moor, finally snow coincided with the weekend and I was able to get some pictures. The highest part of the southern moor, Great Mis Tor had 3-4 inches lying on the top of the tor. This is Little Mis Tor and looking west. I love to see the effect light snowfall has on the moor - it transforms and highlights every rock and adds contrast. You can see more snow images in the latest work page.

You can see the contrast really well in the image below - commercial cutting of peat in the past has left long grooves in the land. Without snow these are just visible but with a few inches of the white stuff the lines really stand out. The tors behind are Higher White and Lydford Tors. Click on the image for a bigger picture.
